Although <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/features\/2007\/11\/02\/the-enchanting-world-of-rene-laloux\/\" class=\"link2\"><I>Fantastic Planet<\/I><\/A> and <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/features\/2007\/11\/02\/the-enchanting-world-of-rene-laloux\/\" class=\"link2\"><I>Gandahar<\/I><\/A> have been hugely influential they have been rarely screened in the last two decades. Eureka have now released all three of Laloux&#8217;s features in the UK, making their other-worldly visual delights and philosophical musings finally accessible to a wider audience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copy\">Unsurprisingly, it&#8217;s all ghosts and ghouls in cinemaland this month, with the BFI dusting off Terence Fisher&#8217;s 1958 <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2007\/11\/01\/dracula\/\" class=\"link2\"><I>Dracula<\/I><\/A>, Eureka bringing <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2007\/11\/01\/nosferatu\/\" class=\"link2\"><I>Nosferatu<\/I><\/A> back to life, while elsewhere <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2007\/11\/01\/the-black-cat-the-raven\/\" class=\"link2\"><I>The Black Cat<\/I><\/A> and <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2007\/11\/01\/the-black-cat-the-raven\/\" class=\"link2\"><I>The Raven<\/I><\/A>, two Edgar Allan Poe adaptations starring Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi, are resuscitated. Among new releases, <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2007\/11\/01\/weirdsville\/\" class=\"link2\"><I>Weirdsville<\/I><\/A> provides a different twist on Satanists and we review a dramatised reconstruction of the life of infamous Edwardian magus <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2007\/11\/01\/in-search-of-the-great-beast-aleister-crowley-the-wickedest-man-in-the-world\/\" class=\"link2\">Aleister Crowley<\/A>. To complete this ghastly feast we have an interview with <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/features\/2007\/11\/02\/interview-with-rigoberto-castaneda\/\" class=\"link2\">Rigoberto Casta\u00c3\u0192\u00c2\u00b1eda<\/A>, the young director of <I>KM31<\/I> (released next month), who tells us how he was scarred for life by 70s Mexican horror movies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copy\">For less horror-inclined cinema-goers we also review Werner Herzog&#8217;s <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2007\/11\/01\/rescue-dawn\/\" class=\"link2\"><I>Rescue Dawn<\/I><\/A>, <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2007\/11\/01\/tsai-ming-liang\/\" class=\"link2\">Tsai Ming-liang<\/A>&#8216;s <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2007\/11\/01\/tsai-ming-liang\/\" class=\"link2\"><I>The Wayward Cloud<\/I><\/A> and <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2007\/11\/01\/tsai-ming-liang\/\" class=\"link2\"><I>I Don&#8217;t Want to Sleep Alone<\/I><\/A>, released simultaneously this month, as well as Pier Paolo Pasolini&#8217;s <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2007\/11\/01\/theorem\/\" class=\"link2\"><I>Theorem<\/I><\/A> and paranoid cold war thriller <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2007\/11\/01\/209\/\" class=\"link2\"><I>The Mind Benders<\/I><\/A>. We also have an interview with Iraqi director <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/features\/2007\/11\/04\/interview-with-mohamed-al-daradji\/\" class=\"link2\">Mohamed Al-Daradji<\/A>, whose film <I>Ahlaam<\/I>, made just after the start of the war in 2003, paints a heart-rending picture of a country caught in a hellish nightmare.
