But with every new edition, TIFF seems to get even bigger and better. This year\u2019s event, which runs from 4 to 14 September, has a packed Midnight Madness selection that includes the world premiere of Matthew Kennedy and Adam Brooks\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2014\/09\/22\/the-editor\/\"><i><b>The Editor<\/b><\/i><\/a>, a loving tribute to, or parody of, the gory giallo thrillers of Mario Bava and Dario Argento, alongside Jonas Govaerts\u2019s promising Belgium horror debut <b><i>Cub<\/i><\/b>, and Kevin Smith\u2019s bizarre <b><i>Tusk<\/i><\/b>. <\/p>\n<p>In addition, the line-up features Sion Sono\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2014\/11\/06\/tokyo-tribe\/\"><i>Tokyo Tribe<\/i><\/a>, David Robert Mitchell\u2019s <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2014\/09\/19\/it-follows\/\"><I>It Follows<\/I><\/A>, Hal Hartley&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2014\/09\/27\/ned-rifle\/\"><i>Ned Rifle<\/i><\/a> and Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy&#8217;s <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2014\/09\/23\/the-tribe\/\"><i>The Tribe<\/i><\/A>, all of which also screen at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/events\/2014\/09\/20th-etrange-festival-preview\/\">Etrange Festival<\/a> in Paris, which takes place at the same time. Mark Hartley presents his latest documentary <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2014\/09\/27\/electric-boogaloo-the-wild-untold-story-of-cannon-films\/\"><i>Electric Boogaloo<\/i><\/a>, which chronicles the rise and fall of 1980s action-exploitation juggernaut Cannon Films, plus there will be another opportunity to catch the hilarious Vampire mockumentary <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2014\/11\/19\/what-we-do-in-the-shadows\/\"><i>What We Do in the Shadows<\/i><\/a>, which arrives in UK cinemas in November.<\/p>\n<p>Plenty more exciting titles are on show in the always superb Vanguard strand, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2014\/10\/09\/the-duke-of-burgundy\/\"><i>The Duke of Burgundy<\/i><\/a>, Peter Strickland\u2019s follow-up to his eerie <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/features\/2012\/08\/31\/berberian-sound-studio-the-sound-of-horror\/\"><i>Berberian Sound Studio<\/i><\/a>, the Misery-style Spanish thriller <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2014\/10\/12\/shrews-nest\/\"><i>Shrew\u2019s Nest<\/i><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2014\/10\/24\/the-world-of-kanako\/\"><i>The World of Kanako<\/i><\/a>, a new stylish and provocative thriller from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2011\/02\/15\/confessions\/\"><i>Confessions<\/i><\/a> director Tetsuya Nakashima. <\/p>\n<p>James Franco&#8217;s latest Faulkner adaptation <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2014\/09\/27\/the-sound-and-the-fury\/\"><i>The Sound and the Fury<\/i><\/a>, Abel Ferrara&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2014\/10\/06\/pasolini\/\"><i>Pasolini<\/i><\/a> and Jean-Baptiste L&eacute;onetti\u2019s <i>The Reach<\/i>, the eagerly awaited follow-up to his 2011 debut feature <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2012\/07\/02\/carre-blanc\/\"><i>Carr&eacute; Blanc<\/i><\/a> will receive a special presentation, plus the most promising big hitters in the official gala section come in the form of Shim Sung-Bo\u2019s high-seas adventure <b><i>Haemoo<\/i><\/b>, co-scripted by Bong Joon-ho, and Andrea Di Stefano\u2019s debut feature <b><i>Escobar: Paradise Lost<\/i><\/b>. <\/p>\n<p>In addition to the many world and international premieres on show, there are of course this year\u2019s earlier festival favourites to catch up on such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/features\/2014\/05\/24\/cannes-2014\/\">Cannes<\/a> winner <b><i>Winter Sleep<\/i><\/b>, David Cronenberg\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2014\/05\/22\/maps-to-the-stars\/\"><i>Maps to the Stars<\/i><\/a>, Xavier Dolan\u2019s <b><i>Mommy<\/i><\/b>, Gabe Polsky&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/features\/2014\/09\/06\/toronto-international-film-festival-2014-part-1\/\"><i>Red Army<\/i><\/a> about the Soviet Union&#8217;s dominance of ice hockey during the Cold War and Bennett Miller\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/features\/2014\/09\/06\/toronto-international-film-festival-2014-part-1\/\"><i>Foxcatcher<\/i><\/a>, which also receives a gala screening at this year\u2019s 58th BFI London Film Festival (8-19 October).
