The festival opens with Simon Pummel\u2019s schizophrenic sci-fi thriller <B><I>Brand New-U<\/I><\/B> and closes with Bollywood epic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2015\/10\/17\/baahubali-the-beginning\/\"><i>Baahubali: The Beginning<\/i><\/a>, with a full range of sleazy subversiveness and avant-garde strangeness in between, from Marcel L\u2019Herbier\u2019s restored 1924 art deco femme fatale tale <B><I>L\u2019inhumaine<\/I><\/B> to Rolph de Heer\u2019s grotesque family tale <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2009\/08\/02\/bad-boy-bubby\/\"><B><I>Bad Boy Bubby<\/I><\/B><\/A>, not to forget a zombie all-nighter.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights include the latest from three Japanese heavyweights: Takashi Miike\u2019s <B><I>Yakuza Apocalypse<\/I><\/B>, Hideo Nakata&#8217;s <B><I>Ghost Theater<\/I><\/B> and Sion Sono with two films, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2015\/10\/19\/tag\/\"><i>Tag<\/i><\/a> and <B><I>Love and Peace<\/I><\/B>. Also screening are The Blaine Brothers\u2019 original and moving <B><I>Nina Forever<\/I><\/B>, Steve Oram\u2019s category-defying <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2015\/10\/17\/aaaaaaaah\/\"><I>Aaaaaaaah!<\/I><\/A> and Ulrich Seidl\u2019s exploration of Austrian cellars <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2014\/12\/03\/in-the-basement\/\"><B><I>In the Basement<\/I><\/B><\/A>.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll be checking out Alex Van Varmerdam\u2019s absurdist thriller <B><I>La peau de Bax<\/I><\/B>, Ra&#250;l Garcia\u2019s Edgar Allan Poe animation film <B><I>Extraordinary Tales<\/I><\/B>, Michael Madsen\u2019s speculative alien invasion documentary <B><I>The Visit<\/I><\/B>, experimental Afghanistan-set sci-fi <B><I>Ni le ciel ni la terre<\/I><\/B> directed by artist Cl&#233;ment Cogitore, and Jason Bognacki\u2019s slick giallo-influenced tale of possession <B><I>Another<\/I><\/B>.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the guest curators are Guy Maddin (also included in the main programme with his own <B><I>The Forbidden Room<\/I><\/B>), whose selection includes <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2009\/01\/09\/bring-me-the-head-of-alfredo-garcia\/ \"><B><I>Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia<\/I><\/B><\/A>, Teuvo Tulio\u2019s <B><I>Sensuela<\/I><\/B> and George Kuchar\u2019s <B><I>The Devil\u2019s Cleavage<\/I><\/B>; Benoit Delepine, co-director of <I>Aaltra<\/I> and <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/news\/2011\/06\/02\/mammuth\/\"><B><I>Mammuth<\/I><\/B><\/A>, will present Tim Burton\u2019s <B><I>Pee-Wee\u2019s Big Adventure<\/I><\/B> and hopeless Russian road movie <B><I>The Joy<\/I><\/B>; and Ben Wheatley has chosen Frantisek Vlacil\u2019s sumptuous medieval fable <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2008\/05\/01\/marketa-lazarova\/\"><B><I>Marketa Lazarova<\/I><\/B><\/A> and Michael Mann\u2019s legendary murky Nazi nightmare <A HREF=\" http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2013\/02\/08\/the-keep\/\"><B><I>The Keep<\/I><\/B><\/A>.<\/p>\n<p> Documentaries include <B><I>Dark Star: H.R. Giger\u2019s World<\/I><\/B>, <B><I>B-Movie: Lust and Sound in West Berlin (1979-1989)<\/I><\/B>, which features Blixa Bargeld and <B><I>Nekromantik 2<\/I><\/B>\u2019s male lead Mark Reeder, as well as an exploration of the Turkish golden age of low-budget Hollywood remakes, <B><I>Remake, Remix, Rip-Off<\/I><\/B>, part of a focus on alternative Turkish cinema.<\/p>\n<p> This year\u2019s musical performance is truly exceptional: legendary masked industrial collective <B>The Residents<\/B> will play a new version of <I>Shadowland<\/I> as well as presenting a programme of films and documentary <B><I>Theory of Obscurity: A Movie about The Residents<\/I><\/B>. <\/p>\n<p> As always, the line-up includes a vast and dynamic selection of shorts, ranging from Can Evrenol\u2019s hard-hitting, gut-punching <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsheepmagazine.co.uk\/reviews\/2015\/09\/30\/baskin\/\"><i>Baskin<\/i><\/a> and Javier Chillon\u2019s inventive, intelligent <B><I>Die Schneider
