I've never heard of Le Combat dans l’île before. But after this superbly referenced and provocative review, I'm going to seek it out some time soon. It sounds a lot more interesting and involving than some of the latter New Wave films from Godard who lost his way as a filmmaker when he decided to "get political" by slapping up slogans rather than making an involving and entertaining film with engaging characters who get political.
