straight 8 launch party + call for submissions

Straight 8 2010 is calling for entries now, it’s the same rule as before: you get one roll of super 8, no editing, and if it’s selected you get to see your film for the first time at cannes or at one of their other screenings throughout 2010 – Benicassim, Rushes Soho Shorts, Raindance. Deadline is April 6.

The straight 8 2010 launch party screening is at the Ritzy Cinema in Brixton at 9pm, Thursday 18 February. Tickets £1 from straight8.net.

Call for submissions: Revelation Perth International Film Festival

Recently described as the SXSW of the southern hemisphere in Electric Sheep, Australia’s most cutting edge film event, the Revelation Perth International Film Festival, is throwing open its official 2010 Call For Entries.

They’re looking for short films, narrative features, documentary features, experimental work, animation, micro-docs, and everything in between. All budgets, styles and genres are welcome. Not sure your film would fit in? Look through the program archive to see the festival’s curatorial style. Revelation’s roots lie in underground cinema, so if you’re a filmmaker with something different, they want to see it!
